Letter from the President

Dear Potential New Member,

Thank you for your interest in joining Alpha Kappa Psi. We pride ourselves on being the nation’s oldest and largest business fraternity. We strive to educate and inspire our members about common business practices and professionalism. AKPsi also helps our members develop personally and professionally while challenging them to discover their passions inside and outside the classroom. Alpha Kappa Psi offers a hands-on experience as we partner with Deloitte during the pledge process to conduct a practical client-based project.

This organization prepares our brothers for work after graduation. Our junior brothers had a 100% internship placement, and our sophomore brothers had 75% internship placement this past summer. AKPsi works diligently to help our brothers work for their dream company right after school.

AKPsi is more than an organization to me. This fraternity is where I met my housemates, my best friends and found my family here at Miami. On behalf of Gamma Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, I invite you to rush this fall.

If you have any questions, please email me at contact@muakpsi.com. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Men and women of all majors are eligible to apply for membership to Alpha Kappa Psi. Students may also be involved in other organization, including Greek fraternities and sororities.

Yes. Students are eligible to go through the recruitment process beginning their first semester of their first year.

Alpha Kappa Psi offers several professional, philanthropic, and social opportunities. Members develop themselves as well-rounded individuals by organizing and attending a variety of events, including etiquette dinners, business conferences, and service trips. This organization provides leadership experience through the 18 diverse committees, including East Bridge Consulting and the investment committee. The members of Alpha Kappa Psi are encouraged to share interests and bond as brothers throughout their college experience.

The minimum GPA to apply for membership is a 3.0. If you do not meet this prerequisite, we encourage you to apply as soon as you are eligible.

You will need to fill out an application (it can be found on this website under the recruitment tab). We also have many events during September and February for you to attend. Some are mandatory, while others are optional. At the beginning of both fall and spring semesters, you can come talk to us at Mega Fair and Meet the B-Orgs. We’d love to chat about our recruitment process at these events. Additionally, we hold info nights and an informal meet the chapter event. You are welcome to stop by these events to learn more about this organization.

Then we have two types of interviews, First Round and Final Round Interviews; you must attend both. First Round Interviews are similar to speed dating. You’ll speak with eight different members for five minutes each. If you are asked back after participating in First Round Interviews, you will attend Final Round Interviews. Final Round Interviews consist of two 15-minutes interviews with a panel of members. We will get back to you within a week of your interviews about your acceptance status.

After gaining acceptance into Alpha Kappa Psi, the pledge process begins- lasting the reminder of the semester. This process includes mandatory requirements such as weekly meetings, workshops, and interviews. The pledge process allows new members to gain invaluable skills while preparing them to join the fraternity.

No. Alpha Kappa Psi does not allow any hazing or inappropriate behavior. The national website states, “Alpha Kappa Psi has a very strict risk management policy, and does not condone alcohol abuse/misuse or hazing.”
